More Choices

More Choices

What did you have for breakfast this morning? Why did you say yes to that client? Is it time to get gas? Should you walk those dogs together? What are you going to write for your next blog post or email newsletter?

It turns out that running a business means making a LOT of choices every single day. Add to that stress and lack of sleep and you'll quickly find that you start avoiding a decision or end up making a rushed decision. Decision fatigue is when you reach run out of mental bandwidth to process everything going on.

Our brain needs to be recharged and not run at 110% all the time. That's why building systems, having good policies, and taking breaks is crucial. A simple process is to plan a "decision time" called Decision Stacking, where you take a focused approach to a handful of issues and only deal with them for 30 mins or so. It keeps you on task and when the timer is done, you move on to the next thing.

We'd love to know your systems to handling all of the decisions you have to make and we hope you have time to recharge and NOT decide anything for a while.
